How did you get Octave? If you built it yourself did you look at the 
messages after the configuration step? Did you perhaps see the message 
about the missing cxsparse library? So maybe you should install 
SuiteSparse (http://www.cise.ufl.edu/research/sparse/SuiteSparse/) and 
try again.. If you got your Octave from someone else or a distribution 
then send this message to them, rinse and repeat.
