Octave crashes at startup with panic - segmentation fault

Hi,

I'm using the binaries provided by sourceforge.net and run Windows XP (SP2) on my computer. Unfortunately, Octave even doesn't start ... Any ideas?

It also crashes when I remove MSYS from the Octave installation directory (just to make sure). Since Octave is running on my home computer (also XP SP2, same Octave version), I wonder if the problem may be related somehow to my system configuration (AV, firewall, ...), which is quite different.

Regards,
Micha M.

output from the Octave command window:

...
Octave was configured for "i686-pc-msdosmsvc".
