Yes, that is the actual reason. However, configure does not know that CHOLMOD
depends on BLAS; from its point of view the found library just doesn't link.
I'm not convinced that configure scripts should make guesses (even
sophisticated guesses) about *why* things don't work; IMO they should
just report that they don't work which is exactly what the current
configure does.
