Hi,

I have written a new function for signal processing that is missing in
octave.
It acts as detrend but uses only a subset of data points to fit a polynomial.

It is often the case in experimental physics that one needs to remove
background
from a signal based only on its segments, both ends, for instance.
The new function subdetrend does  that.

The description is included in comments in the attached file.

Perhaps, you will find it worthwhile adding to the octave libraries under
GPL.
