I have hooks in my editor that delete blanks at the end of lines and
blank rows at the end of file, and I am used to run them on every source
file I edit.  Since many Octave source files have blanks at end of line,
especially the changelogs, I often end up with overlong diffs.

And yes, it may screw indenting for lines where the only change you are
making is to add or remove indentation.  But this is a rare case and I
am aware of it.
