eig() crashes with 2.1.73

I suggest upgrading your machine. You are using:
Octave 2.1.73
gcc 3.3.3 with g77
Linux Kernel 2.6.5

Each of these has been long superseded.

For what it's worth, the eig() command works on my 2.1 installation.
