See attached files.  Note that the overlap is worse in the
PostScript.

I am using X11, and gnuplot: gnuplot 4.2 patchlevel 3.

By the way,  I was thinking that with all these new handles and
properties, it may be possible to compose "subplots" on a
custom basis.  The (useful) set(gx, "position", [0.13, 0.11, 0.775, 1.14]);
command is a start.
