A program without bugs is like the holy grail... :-)

If you're talking about the problem you have, that downloading octave binary
package also downloads some Broadcom software, I strongly doubt that
downloading octave is the only reason; there must be something else.

Did you also try the MinGW-compiled version available? Do you have the
same problem?

To answer your question, I personally don't sell CD with octave on it.
