But copying ideas can't infringe copyright; ideas, algorithms, etc.
are *not* protected by copyright.
Taking ideas from code may, of course, increase the risk that you
remember a line of code and later write it down, which essentially is
copyright infringement.
Here's an idea: I think there are lawyers working for FSF. What about
asking them for a legal advice on the subject?
