compiling *.oct files with Octave

I would like to compile *.oct files with Octave

My *.oct files are in this directory: 
C:\Program Files\Octave\libexec\octave\3.0.0\oct
\i686-pc-msdosmsvc\*.oct

I am using the Octave icon and see the
octave-3.0.0.exe:1> prompt in the DOS window

How do I compile these files from the octave prompt?

Could you point me to some helpful website?
Sorry, I need to re-learn DOS.
