problems with the y=0 function

Hi .
my problem is that for programate the line 0 in octave can be this form:
>y(1000) =0;  the line y=0 be in all range [0:1000], but I like that the
line can be in the range 1901:2005 for example, for add to time series up
-down the line 0!!,
How is the form of programate this sequence?.
