Symbolic Package

The mailing list octave-dev at lists.sourceforge.net would probably have 
been a better list to send to as this is an octave-forge function.

You need to build the package as the vpa function is an oct-file that 
needs to be compiled with C++ before use. If you have the compilers 
installed then running "pkg install symbolic-<version>.tar.gz" where 
<version> is the version you are installing and the whole is the 
filename with the archive of the package.. Check "help pkg" in Octave 
for more details..
