How to fix PANGO & gdImageStringFT: could not...

My apologies if I've done something improper as well.

On another note, these errors have been taken care for basic text needs. I'm
now looking into plotting and saving information that was produced using
.tex formatted strings.

Plotting .tex strings is fine.

However, again saving them throws gdImageStringFT errors. This time,
gdImageStringFT is looking for the font Symbol. I imagine Symbol is set
somewhere inside of Octave, since I found no documentation in gnuplot or its
associated libraries.

Where is Symbol and how do I set it to something that is actually on my
machine? Thank you.
