Hello,,
you should set the variable "PS1" (type help PS1 to see the options)
as you wish. To do it pernamently, set it in your .octaverc file (more
about configuration files of Octave is in The Manual here:
http://www.gnu.org/software/octave/doc/interpreter/Startup-Files.html#Startup-Files)
