3.2 w/ 4.3.2 GCC ?

Yes, but be careful, 4.3.2 which you can bring in via the repo, will
not compile Octave 3.2. I'm looking at it, it may be the way it was
built, or it just may be a problem with 4.3.2, don't know. Jaroslav
indicated earlier he had used a 4.3.1 version successfully.

I have tried with 4.3.3 and 4.4.0 w/o any problems and with the
test harness 100% passing with a 4.3.3 build of:

Configured with: ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/gcc-4.3.3 
--with-as=/usr/sfw/bin/gas --with-gnu-as --with-ld=/usr/ccs/bin/ld 
--without-gnu-ld --enable-languages=c,c++,fortran --enable-shared
Thread model: posix
gcc version 4.3.3 (GCC)
