we will need fltk 1.1.x -- this was used in octplot as well, so you
should be fine.

I chose not to use fltk 2.x because it is at a very experimental stage
right now (and has been in this state for at least 4 years) -- I'm not
sure it even has a stable API yet, and there is no timeline for a
first release.
