contourf and the cyan rectangle

I noticed the cyan rectangle has returned. The attached changeset is  
based upon the same presumption as the prior (patches are rendered in  
reverse order).

The effect can be seen by ....

	demo ("contourf", 1)

David,  you've done a lot of work here in the last 2 months. Please  
verify this solution is proper.
