Hi Marco,
just finished to run both Tatsuro's and John's 
"crash" plot test on
3.0.4-rc5 + yours two patches and it works
(I added both to clarify my test conditions).


I think Rob Mahurin
have already partially merged your previous patches on 

http://hg.tw-math.de/release-3-0-x/rev/489d0ba75c42 to graphics.cc
http://hg.tw-math.de/release-3-0-x/rev/e1779a6d4b7a to legends.m

so a check is needed  how to apply your latest changes 
on top of that.
